[Suspected leak at oil processing unit @ Pulau Bukom – 27 Dec 24]
Agencies were informed by Shell that they have shut down one of their oil processing units at the Shell Energy and Chemical Parks at Pulau Bukom, to facilitate investigation into a suspected leak in their system.
While no oil has been observed at Sisters’ Islands Marine Park and Labrador Nature Reserve as of 27 December 2024, agencies are closely monitoring the situation and have utilised satellite imagery and deployed drones for surveillance. As a precaution, oil absorbent booms will be laid at Sisters' Islands Marine Park and at the beaches on Sentosa.
The public areas at Big Sister’s Island remain open.
For more information on the incident, refer to the media release (27 December) from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
