Bendera Bay at St John’s Island

About Bendera Bay

Note

Bendera Bay is currently not open to the public.

The name Bendera Bay comes from St John's Island's indigenous Malay name, Pulau Sekijang Bendera.

The 3.9-hectare lagoon was closed for outreach and education activities in 2019, as its mix of diverse habitats offers opportunities for research and conservation. The habitats include coral, seagrass, mangrove, sandy shore and rocky shore.

The Friends of Marine Park community, which comprises kayakers, anglers, divers, boaters and researchers, conducts outreach programmes in the area. These include research, heritage and education activities.

Stay tuned for updates, which will be posted on this page.
