The enhanced lagoon tidal pool creates a sheltered water body that encourages mangrove propagules and seagrass to establish inside the lagoon while protecting the lagoon beach from wave-induced erosion.
Over time, the lagoon will mature into a multi-habitat ecosystem supporting a wide range of flora and fauna, which can be observed via an underwater camera. This will enable educational and outreach programmes under the Singtel Marine Explorer Programme @ Sisters’ Islands Marine Park, turning the lagoon into an outdoor classroom.
Visitors of all ages can explore the intertidal zone to spot some of our vibrant marine biodiversity.
The development of the tidal pool and its programmes are supported by a donation of S$1 million from Singtel through the Garden City Fund.
