The Ocean Network Express Coastal Forest Trail will lead visitors on a hike through the island’s coastal forest.
Those who arrive at the two-storey-high Hilltop View Deck, the highest point on the island, will be rewarded with panoramic views of the sea and neighbouring offshore islands. Lucky birdwatchers can also catch a glimpse of various bird species from this prime birdwatching spot.
The development of the trail was supported by a S$1 million donation from Ocean Network Express through the Garden City Fund.
Visitors can learn about the unique characteristics of coastal flora species and their adaptations, as well as the biodiversity found on the island.
Along the trail, they can look out for a wide variety of coastal flora such as the Mangrove Fan Palm (Licuala spinosa) and terrestrial fauna such as the Lesser-dog Faced Fruit Bat (Cynopterus brachyotis), Paradise Tree Snake (Chrysopelea paradisi) and Emerald Cockroach Wasp (Ampulex compressa).
