We are the lead agency for greenery, biodiversity conservation, as well as wildlife and animal health, welfare and management. We are committed to enhancing and managing the urban ecosystems of our City in Nature, and work closely with the community to enhance the quality of our living environment.
We play a vital role in Singapore's transformation into a City in Nature by working across the following areas:
Our roots began with the first nationwide tree-planting campaign in 1963, which kick-started our greening journey. In 1971, the first annual Tree Planting Day was launched and with that, greening has become part of Singapore's DNA.

Today, we manage more than 400 parks, 4 nature reserves, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Jurong Lake Gardens, Pulau Ubin and the Sisters' Islands Marine Park.
Adding to this is the extensive network of nature ways, and the over 380km Park Connector Network that links major parks, nature areas and residential estates island-wide.
We run over 3,500 educational and outreach programmes across our various green spaces annually. This includes the Community in Bloom programme, Community in Nature (CIN) programme and other volunteering opportunities.
By encouraging the understanding, appreciation, and protection of nature and biodiversity, a City in Nature will enable the community to forge closer bonds through active stewardship of the environment.
We have developed an urban biodiversity conservation model to conserve representative ecosystems in land-scarce Singapore.
We also monitor and coordinate measures to enhance the presence of biodiversity in our urban landscape. Aside from our commitment to conserve our native biodiversity, we also help protect the natural ecosystems in other parts of the world by working with partners and stakeholders to eliminate the illegal trade of protected species.
We are the lead agency for animal health and welfare, and plant health in Singapore.
The Animal & Veterinary Service, a cluster of NParks, is the main touch-point for animal-related issues and the first responder for animal-related feedback.
By creating an enabling environment and improving the standards of veterinary and animal industries, we will foster collaborations with the industries to raise the animal health and welfare standards in Singapore.
We work closely with partners in the landscape, horticulture, veterinary and animal sectors to increase productivity and provide training across all employment levels.
By enhancing the competencies of the industry, we support Singapore’s vision of being a City in Nature.
